19.10.2019 - heute | DPhil in Engineering Science, Control Group, University of Oxford, St Edmund Hall Project: Simulation, Optimization and Control of Multirate Dynamics Supervisors: Prof. Sina Ober-Blöbaum and Prof. Mark Cannon The project will make use of structure-preserving multirate integration schemes for accurate lon-term simulation of systems on different time scales at a decreased computational cost. These schemes will be applied for the solution of optimal control problems in the context of spacecraft and vehicle dynamics and their accuracy, convergence and computational efficiency will be thoroughly investigated. |

01.10.2015 - 27.06.2019 | MEng Instrumentation & Control and Aerospace & Aerothermal Engineering , University of Cambridge, Christs College Master’s Project: Adjoint-based optimization of a hydrofoil/airfoil Supervised by Prof. Matthew Juniper In this project we explored the use of automatic differentiation in the context of 2D airfoil shape optimization. For this purpose, a flow solver was developed Fortran 90 and incorporated within a limited-memory implementation of the Broyden-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno algorithm for bound constrained optimization (L-BFGS-B). Gradient information was obtained using reverse-mode automatic differentiation and used to find the maximum obtainable lift-to-drag ratio given a Reynolds number and an angle of attack specified by the user.
