Standing Committee for Safeguarding Good Research Practice
For the purpose of safeguarding good research practice, a standing committee is appointed by the Senate upon the proposal by the Executive Board in agreement with the Senate.
This committee is tasked with assisting with the further development of standards and the preparation of recommendations for good research practice, investigating allegations of research misconduct and conducting the corresponding procedure pursuant to §13 of the regulation. The committee works closely with the university’s Ombudsperson, who is not, however, a member of the standing committee.
The responsibility of the examination boards, doctoral and post-doctoral committees and faculty councils to detect research misconduct and take appropriate disciplinary action in study and examination-related matters, as well as in direct connection with the award of academic degrees remains unaffected.
The committee is comprised of the following members with voting rights for a period of two years:
- Five members from the group of professors (one member per faculty)
- Two members from the group of academic staff
- One member from the group of technical and administrative staff
- One member from the group of students
A substitute is appointed for every member in case of any concern with regard to bias or favouritism or in case the member is unable to carry out their duties. The committee may consult other appropriate persons in an advisory capacity.
