Inventions and Patents at Paderborn University
The outstanding research achievements and the resultant knowledge are the sources of the success of Paderborn University. This knowledge must be consistently protected on a long-term basis. Accordingly, it is our task to link the scientific and academic quality of the research results with optimised patent protection. Since the amendment to Section 42 of the German Employee Invention Act (Arbeitnehmererfindergesetz) in 2002, Paderborn University, as the holder of the inventor rights, has been required to protect knowledge and utilise and exploit research results. Our declared goal is to ensure the protection of university inventions that have the potential to be exploited or commercialised.
As a research-oriented and innovative university, Paderborn University is proud of the inventive potential of its researchers and staff. The claim to the rights to inventions developed by university employees offers the opportunity to protect the results of research and development both nationally and internationally, to contribute them within the scope of company cooperations, and to market them jointly with the PROvendis patent commercialisation agency. We are pleased to provide you with individualised and thorough advice about your invention and we offer information events and seminars on the topic of inventions, patents, and commercial exploitation at the university level.
