Competence-Oriented Education
A modern university education should not merely aim at an uncritical acceptance of knowledge, but rather should have as its goal the development of both technical knowledge, as well as interdisciplinary competences (soft skills). Desired learning outcomes serve as a basis for comparison to determine which competences students have acquired and/or mastered by the end of a course, and which they have not, as well as offering a potential insight into why not.
- Individual advising about designing competence-oriented courses and the didactic possibilities is available from the Higher Education Development Unit (HEDU) for Innovation in Education and University Didactics.
