Once again in top form: Paderborn University demonstrated its sporting strength at the traditional Paderborn Easter Run with two victories in the company cup ranking and numerous other top placings. The successful runners were honoured at an official award ceremony on Monday, 11 May, in the building of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of East Westphalia in Bielefeld.
In the "5 km mixed" category, the Paderborn University team of Felix Hanselle, Felix Meyer and Patrick Folge secured first place with a total time of 59:31 minutes. The trio of Nele Weike, Janine Herrmann and Sabrina Plaß also took first place in the "10 km women" category with a time of 2:09:44 hours. In addition, Nele Weike, Kevin Malena and Nils Horstmann took second place in the mixed 10 km distance with a time of 1:59:02 hours. In the women's half marathon, Katharina Brennig, Lisa Picht and Miriam Stumpe impressed with a total time of 5:25:20 hours and also finished second on the podium
Paderborn University was also strongly represented across the board. It had the second-largest number of finishers in the company cup classification for the half marathon. Nele Weike made a special sporting statement with an outstanding individual performance: in the 10 km race, she was the fastest woman from Paderborn with a time of 35:53 minutes.
Ulrich Kussin and Dennis Kehne from Paderborn University Sports were delighted with the performances: "The strong results of our teams impressively show that Paderborn University is not only excellently positioned in terms of sport, but also contributes to a vibrant city community."
