UPB for Fu­ture – The Sus­tain­ab­il­ity Lec­ture Series

The lecture series is open to all Paderborn University students. Employees and external guests are also warmly invited to attend. The lecture series is open to the public and can be attended free of charge by anyone interested. No prior registration is required. The individual lecture dates will take place in person.

In some study programmes, the lecture series can be chosen as part of the study programme (e.g. in the Studium Generale (extracurricular studies)). You can check whether this is the case for your study programme in the list of modules on offer in the course catalogue (Vorlesungsverzeichnis). In addition, students at Paderborn University have the opportunity to receive a certificate for regular participation in the lecture series. In both cases, registration via PAUL is required.

Registration for the Lecture Series via PAUL: 

Students whose study programme allows them to count the lecture series towards their degree (e.g. via the Studium Generale (extracurricular studies)) can register for the lecture series as usual via PAUL. Here is how to find the lecture series: After registering, click on “Studium” (Studies), “Semesterverwaltung” (Semester Administration), “Anmeldung zu Veranstaltungen” (Course Registration) and click through to the list of courses offered for the Studium Generale (extracurricular studies). The lecture series is located at the top level of the main page.

Registration as an Additional Credit (Zusatzleistung) via PAUL:

Since the summer semester 2025, students whose study programme does not include the possibility to receive credit for the lecture series are now also able to register via PAUL. In this case, you will find the lecture series under extracurricular offers (extracurriculare Angebote). Please Note: If you register via the extracurricular offers, the lecture series is counted purely as an additional credit (Zusatzleistung). If you would like to attend the lecture series as part of your study programme, you must register in PAUL using the process outlined above.

The following applies to both processes:

You can register as soon as the first registration phase begins (17 February 2025, 8 am) until the end of the revision period (30 April 2025, 11:59 pm). The organisation of the course takes place in PANDA, where you will be able to find information such as your coursework requirements at the beginning of the semester. All registrations in PAUL are automatically transferred to PANDA. Self-enrolment in the PANDA course is no longer possible.

Credited participation (qualified participation, 3 ECTS credits) can be earned for this lecture series. The required performance comprises the following:

• Attendance (2 weekly hours per semester)
• Follow-up work to presentations in PANDA
• Submission of a written reflection paper

Registration via PAUL will be possible from 17 February 2025. Students who wish to complete the credits of the lecture series and receive a certificate must have a valid PANDA account.

At the end of the semester, you will receive confirmation that you have completed the credits of the lecture series via email. This confirmation will be sent to the e-mail address that you used to register for the PANDA course. Please check your UPB mailbox or enable the forwarding option if necessary. It takes some time for the confirmation to be issued.
