Since the 2017/2018 winter semester, selected PDF documents, such as the "Certificate of Enrolment" and the "Online Grade Transcript", have been digitally signed with a certificate-based signature.

This is a certificate issued for Paderborn University, the trustworthiness of which cannot be verified in the delivery state of Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat Professional.

The following guide requires the installation and corresponding default settings of Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat Professional version 10 or higher for a successful validity check. The steps described must be carried out once and are similar for newer versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat Professional.

The validity check is also applied to documents obtained through self-service. If this check is not detected automatically, it must be performed manually. The following instructions for verifying the certificate's validity can also be used in this case.
