UNI-ASSIST
Deadlines for applying via uni-assist (a preliminary examination report is not required):
- Winter semester:
- Application deadline for English- and German-taught master's programs: May 31 (extended deadline for submitting additional documents - July 15)
- Summer semester:
- Application deadline for English-taught master's programs: Nov. 30 (extended deadline for submitting additional documents - January 15)
- Application deadline for German-taught Master's programs: Nov. 30 (extended deadline to submit additional documents Feb. 5)
Application Documents - What has to be submitted?
- Secondary school leaving certificate
- Bachelor’s certificate (and Master's certificate, if available)
- Transcript(s) of Records
- Diploma Supplement
- Language Certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, etc. with scores that meet minimum requirements, Medium of Instruction)
- GRE or dMAT* (see specific enrollment requirements for Additive Manufacturing, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science)
- Module Handbook* (M.Sc. in International Economics & Management)
- APS if you are applying from India, China or Vietnam
- Passport
* If these documents are required, but not submitted, then the application cannot be processed.
NOTE: It is no longer necessary to send physical documents to uni-assist.
PADERBORN UNIVERSITY
In order to apply directly at Paderborn University please apply for a preliminary examination of your school and/or university certificates with the “Application for university entrance examination” („Antrag zur Prüfung des Hochschulzugangs“). You can then apply directly via the Paderborn University application portal during the application period with the preliminary examination report. It is not possible to apply without the preliminary examination report. Please apply in December.
The application for preliminary examination of your certificates must be submitted via the PAUL application portal.
Please create a user account and submit the request for preliminary review by uploading all required documents by the deadline.
Deadlines for submitting applications for preliminary review for non-uni-assist degree programs
Please note the following deadlines for applications and preliminary review:
- Winter semester: Application period from 15. April - 31. May
- Summer semester: Application period from 1. December - 15. January
We recommend that you submit your documents as early as possible, as processing can take several weeks.
Unfortunately, applications sent by e-mail cannot be accepted for organizational reasons.
Application Documents - What has to be submitted?
For the preliminary assessment, please upload the following documents in full in the application:
- Graduation certificate from a secondary school that entitles you to study at the university (please ensure that your final grades are listed!)
- If you have taken part in a university entrance examination, these results are also required (e.g. for applicants from Bosnia, Korea, Kosovo, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and the USA).
- If applicable, university certificates and lists of subjects and grades of your previous academic achievements (Transcript of Records)
- Notarized translations (if originals are not available in German or English)
- proof of the required language skills
- For applications to master’s programs at the faculty of Business Administration and Economics (Wirtschaftswissenschaften), applicants must submit a syllabus (module manual) that describes the module or course content for courses that were taken towards their bachelor’s degree. In the case of combined modules, documentation of the weighting of the individual subjects must be provided. These documents must be issued directly by the university or school from which the bachelor’s degree was obtained, or it must be published on its website.

Processing time
Your documents will be processed within the deadlines and can take up to 6 weeks depending on the volume of applications. Please submit your documents early.
Important information: Notarization of documents is not necessary. You may be asked to present your original documents after your arrival on campus. In this case, the university will contact you. Please note our rules for dealing with translations (see below).
