Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Christian Lindemann has successfully passed his doctoral examination with his thesis on "Systematic Approach for Cost Efficient Design and Planning with Additive Manufacturing".

We are happy to congratulate our colleague Wadim Reschetnik on the very successful doctoral examination. The title of his dissertation is "Lebensdauerorientierte Eigenschaftsänderungen von additiv gefertigten Bauteilen und Strukturen".
Zum 2. Mal fand die Denkschule des FK LEM statt. Dieses Jahr mit dem Fokus auf "Leichtbau für nachhaltigen Klimaschutz" und mit einem neuen Veranstaltungsformat im Audimax der Universität Paderborn.
On 14 and 15 September, the DMRC Technical and Board Meeting took place at the Paderborn University. On the first day, the current research results of the DMRC exclusive projects were presented to industry representatives. On the second day, the projects for 2018 and other organizational contents were discussed.

The Direct Manufacturing Research Center welcomes its 27th industry partner Klaeger. Klaeger stands for professional sawing solutions which can be used for the post-processing of AM metal parts. Since August 2017, Klaeger joined the DMRC as a Tier 3 partner.
From 6 to 9 August 2017, the 28th Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium (SFF) took place in Austin, TX (USA). The SFF is one of the most important international conferences on Additive Manufacturing (AM). This importance is underlined by a number of participants of about 700 people. The conference offers researchers from all over the world the opportuninity to present and discuss innovations and research results with international experts.
The DMRC is looking forward to welcome a new partner to the industrial consortium: AKG Group. AKG joined the DMRC as a Tier 3 member. AKG is a German manufacturer of coolers, which was founded in 1919. The AKG group employs more than 2300 people around the world.

The DMRC publication “Design for Additive Manufacturing - Element transitions and aggregated structures” has reached place three among the 2016 most downloaded articles in CIRP Journal of Manufacturing Science and Technology.
