Overview

The main objective of this qualitative Phd project is to reconstruct shared and divided group-specific patterns amongst young people in dealing with history whilst exploring the question of “Spielregeln”. The Data was collected by examining the discussions among adolescents when confronted with various colonial images and their respective controversial interpretations. Using the documentary research method, five contrastive group-specific patterns of dealing with history were identified, which revealed important insights into differing areas of tension between their experiences in the history classroom as well as their conceptions of perspective, history, and colonial history.
