PADrend: Platform for Algorithm Development and Rendering
Overview
Measuring and comparing the quality and efficiency of different rendering algorithms in computer graphics is a demanding challenge: efficiency is strongly influenced by the implementation of the algorithms and the programming framework. The PADrend framework supports the systematic and flexible development, evaluation, adaptation and comparison of several rendering algorithms in a single programming environment. Different algorithms can be easily implemented in the same programming environment and compared side by side. During the rendering of the virtual scenes, the implemented algorithms can be switched arbitrarily. Errors due to different utilization and memory usage will be avoided. It offers developers of rendering algorithms a comfortable and easy-to-use platform. The system includes already implemented evaluation methods to improve the objectivity of experimental evaluations of rendering algorithms.
