Research & Teaching

Alexander Dunst holds a Mag. phil in English and American Studies from the University of Vienna and a PhD in Critical Theory from the University of Nottingham. From 2011 to 2013, he taught at the University of Potsdam before coming to Paderborn. His research and teaching focus on twentieth-century cultural history, the digital humanities and contemporary US fiction and visual narrative. He is the author of Madness in Cold War America (Routledge, 2016) and has recently co-edited two volumes, The World According to Philip K. Dick (Palgrave, 2015) and Empirical Comics Research (Routledge, 2018). A special issue on "Digital Scholarship in American Studies" is forthcoming in the journal Amerikastudien. He is currently writing a book titled "The Graphic Novel: A Quantitative and Critical History".
