The certificate in their hands, the future before their eyes - a new phase of life begins for the graduates of the Faculty of Science. In the Auditorium maximum of Paderborn University, they were celebrated by friends and family for successfully completing their degree or doctorate.

In addition to Prof Dr Wolf Gero Schmidt, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof Dr Torsten Meier, Vice President for International Relations at Paderborn University, also offered his congratulations on behalf of the university management. Schmidt also paid tribute to those who had been accepted into scholarship programmes such as the OWL Study Fund or the German National Academic Foundation.

The Departments of Exercise & Health, Chemistry and Physics then presented the respective degree certificates. Isabel Ehlting and Carina Pohle received the Paderborn Sports Science Prize for their outstanding student theses.

The graduates themselves also helped to organise the official ceremony. Under the motto "Jumping sparks in physics, chemistry and sport", they performed experiments and dance routines. The musical setting was provided by singer Gina Westerhelweg, who was accompanied on the piano by Eckhard Wiemann.
