The digital transformation is increasingly changing communication and cooperation in schools. It is therefore becoming more and more important for school administrators and teachers to develop the corresponding competences in order to use the possibilities innovatively, but also to identify problems. The resulting need for training and further education is now being addressed with the joint project "Digital Leadership & Communication and Cooperation Development" (LeadCom). As one of a total of eleven universities, Paderborn University is participating in the project with the Department of Media Education and Empirical Media Research headed by Prof. Dr. Dorothee M. Meister.

The project network began its work in August and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the European Union (NextGenerationEU) with a total of around five million euros until March 2026 - Paderborn University will receive around 200,000 euros of this. The project is part of the "learning:digital" competence network.

Promoting digital communication and collaboration

The sub-project at Paderborn University focuses on collaboration in school colleges and between parents and schools. The aim of LeadCom is to develop, evaluate and disseminate training modules in the area of "digital leadership" for school administrators and teachers. The modules are tested and continuously developed in close exchange with school stakeholders. They will then be made freely available throughout Germany as so-called "Open Educational Resources" (OER).

Researchers from Paderborn University, FAU Nuremberg, Bielefeld University, Bamberg University, Ansbach University of Applied Sciences, TU Braunschweig, RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, Cologne University, Mainz University, TU Nuremberg and PH Schwäbisch-Gmünd are working together in the LeadCom project.
