Paderborn University’s Advisory Board elects new chair

On Friday 2 June, Professor Jürgen Brautmeier – previously the deputy chair of the Advisory Board – was unanimously elected the new chair of the Advisory Board for Paderborn University. He is succeeding Dr. Dagmar Simon, who held the position from 2017 to 2023. Andreas Speith was unanimously elected as the new successor to the position of deputy chair.

As a central university body, the Advisory Board’s responsibilities include supervising the University Executive Board’s financial management. It offers recommendations and issues opinions on university-wide matters relating to research, teaching, studies and the transfer of knowledge.

Jürgen Brautmeier is an honorary professor at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, former director of the Media Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia and former chair of the Directors’ Conference of the State Media Authorities. He has been a member of the Advisory Board since 2012. Andreas Speith is CEO of Westfalen Weser Netz GmbH and was appointed to Paderborn University’s Advisory Board in 2023.
