Long Night of Science on 9 April 2027

To mark the 1,250th anniversary of the City of Paderborn in 2027, our University will participate in the celebrations with a special event format: the first Long Night of Science at UPB.

The event will take place on campus on Friday, 9 April 2027, from 5 pm until midnight. Together with you, we hope to create a varied and inspiring programme that showcases the diversity and strengths of our University, while offering our visitors of all ages an informative, exciting, and entertaining evening.

To ensure the event’s success and to highlight the many facets of Paderborn University, we warmly invite you to contribute your experiments, talks, presentations, guided tours, information booths, or other creative formats to the Long Night of Science. You are very welcome to submit your suggestions and ideas to us. Please submit your contributions using the following form.

Interactive Campaign: 125 "Wissenshasen" wanted!

What Is It About?
To spark some early anticipation for our first Long Night of Science (LNdW), and in keeping with our motto “Wissen, wie der Hase läuft”, we will be hiding 125 colorful “Wissenshasen” (see photo) across the campus.

Found A “Wissenshase”?
Take it with you, capture a photo of your new roommate, and mail your picture or your idea to the Central Event Management (Unit 2.4) by 25 April 2026.

Why Take Part?
We will be presenting the submitted photos in a small exhibition in the UPB foyer. The best idea will be selected to feature in the LNdW campaign.

It goes without saying that by submitting your photo, you agree that it may be used as part of the exhibition and for communications relating to the Long Night of the Science. Please make sure that no persons or only persons who have consented to publication are shown in the pictures.

The framework of the Long Night of Science

Starting point: "Drei-Hasen-Fenster"

As the LNdW is embedded in the city's anniversary, the motto was based on the "Drei-Hasen-Fenster".

Our key visual

The bunny theme will serve as a visual anchor for the marketing campaign, as it can be combined with backgrounds, icons or other elements.

The "Wissenshase" - the unifying theme

The "Wissenshase" will accompany our Long Night of Science.

Three paths lead through the university

There will be a signposting system to help visitors find their way around. Your offers will be located along these three paths. To make it easier to find, each project/offer will be given a "house number" along the way.

Paths through the university

The starting point of the wayfinding system is the main entrance. From there, the cultural promenade leads to your offers from the cultural sector, the experimental avenue leads to your ideas from the STEM sector and families with (small) children can go on a voyage of discovery on the knowledge trail.
