Scientists of the Transregio (TRR) 318 "Constructing Explainability" of Paderborn Universities and the University of Bielefeld invite you to the workshop "How do I encounter AI? – from CO2 traffic lights to ChatGPT". The workshop will test and explore what is in different AI systems and how to encounter them. What is strong AI and what is weak AI? Can a machine think for itself? Is an AI trustworthy? And do I think AI is good at all? The workshop will be offered over two days and will take place on Sunday, 20 August, and Sunday, 3 September, both from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Marta Herford Art Museum (Goebenstraße 2-10, 32052 Herford).
The participants will examine a CO2 traffic light, a programme for number recognition and a game AI, experiment and discuss the basics of artificial intelligence. They will familiarise themselves with the prejudices against AI and the errors of AI, in order to then experience how they themselves can become co-creators of AI: Using an adapted version of the chatbot ChatGPT, the participants can train an AI themselves and reflect on the results.
Registration (free of charge) via Marta Herford or by mail to communication(at)trr318.uni-paderborn(dot)de.
Research in TRR 318 "Constructing Explainability"
In TRR 318 "Constructing Explainability", around 70 researchers are working together to make AI more comprehensible. To this end, they are investigating the principles, mechanisms and social practices of explanation and how these can be taken into account in the design of AI systems. In one sub-project, researchers from sociology and computer science organise various workshops in which citizens can explore AI on their own.
