"Mensa Talk": Studierendenwerk offers opportunity for mutual exchange

Location: Mensa Forum

How can the Paderborn Student Union's services be sustainably improved? This question is the focus of the first "Mensa Talk", which students at Paderborn University will be able to discuss on Wednesday, 15 November. Ulrich Schmidt, Managing Director of Studierendenwerk Paderborn, and Erhard Wolf, Head of the University Catering Department, would like to talk to interested parties in the Mensa Forum from 4 to 5 pm. "We offer this mutual exchange at eye level because a good relationship with the students and employees of the university is very important to us," says Schmidt.

The tasks of the student union are diverse

Students at Paderborn University benefit from numerous services relating to catering, accommodation, BAföG, childcare, social and intercultural matters. At the same time, the general economic rules of the game apply to the public law institution in many areas, which can sometimes lead to pressure to act and changes. These are not always met with understanding in everyday university life. Together with the student health management organisation (SGM) "mein beneFIT@upb.de", the Paderborn student union is now launching an information campaign. "An open culture of discussion and satisfied students are very important to us," says Lena Wobbe, employee and coordinator at SGM, explaining the joint commitment. "In personal discussions, we can explain why we have to make some decisions. And we want to take away suggestions that we can use to further develop our institution," is Schmidt's aim.

Questions and active participation are welcome

The organisers ask all interested parties to register in advance on the University Sports website and to formulate their initial questions. "Preparation is helpful for some questions so that the answers can be well-founded," says Dennis Kehne, Head of SGM "mein beneFIT@upb.de". However, spontaneous participation for students is also possible, depending on the availability of places.
