Real Talk instead of Small Talk: Our new series of events brings PhD students and postdocs together to talk openly about the things that are sometimes overlooked in everyday academic life. We want to create a space for honest conversations and discussion. Come along and bring your questions!

The next Real Talk will take place online on 15 July at 1 pm, focusing on “Pension provision for PhD students and postdocs”. Even if, at first glance, the topic seems unrelated to your PhD or postdoc project, retirement planning is one of those long-term issues that affects researchers regardless of their future career path – whether within or outside academia. Fixed-term contracts and diverse career options in particular make it sensible to start thinking about your own pension provision at an early stage. We’re delighted to have Stephan Busch, an independent financial adviser and coach, joining us for this Real Talk.
