FAQ's

No, unfortunately that isn't possible. Apartment bookings can only be made through Paderborn University.

The apartments are available for monthly rentals. The rental period ranges from a minimum of one month to a maximum of six months. Tip: Even for stays as short as one week, it may be more cost-effective to rent a room in the guesthouse for a full month rather than staying in a hotel.

Yes, the host can cancel free of charge up to six weeks before the start of the lease. After that, the rent is payable for the respective months if a new tenant cannot be found on short notice.

No, due to the regulations governing short-term rentals, this is no longer possible once you have moved in.

Key pickup begins at 1:00 p.m. on the 1st of each month*. Keys can be picked up at the Service Center or from the security guard (porter's lodge). Both locations are in the foyer of the main building and are staffed on an alternating basis.
After 1:00 p.m., keys can be picked up around the clock (24/7) at either location — including outside of regular business hours, such as in the late afternoon, evening, at night, on weekends, and on holidays.

Important note: Keys can only be picked up by the guests themselves, as they must present identification when picking up the keys.

*Except January (see Reservation)

The tenancy agreement may be extended for a total period of up to six months. The guest should inform their host faculty of their intention so that the faculty can contact the Guest Administration.

The rent must be paid by the 5th of the month. For stays of several months, the total amount may also be paid on the 5th of the first month of the tenancy.

Cash payments are only accepted in exceptional circumstances. If there is no other payment option available, please contact the Accounts Department (Department 1.1) directly or ask your guest supervisor (see booking form) for assistance.

Information for Guests

From moving in to moving out

Unfortunately, the guesthouse does not have a luggage storage, so we are unable to accept your luggage in advance.

The key may only be collected by the guest upon presentation of their identity card. Collection takes place via the Service Center or the security staff (porter) located in the foyer of the main entrance near the library. Key collection begins on the first* day of the month in question, from 1 p.m. – see the booking form. After that, the key can be collected at any time (24/7 – including nights, weekends, and public holidays).

*Please note: In January, the rental period begins later than usual (see reservation form).

Rent must be transferred to the account specified on the invoice by the 5th day of the respective rental month. For rental periods of several months, it is also possible to pay the total amount in advance.

Cash payments are only permitted in exceptional cases. If no other method of payment is available, please contact the Accounts Department (Division 1.1) directly or ask your guest coordinator (see booking form) for assistance.

The guest is responsible for keeping the apartment in a well-maintained condition and ensuring it is aired regularly.

To support the upkeep of the apartments, a professional basic cleaning is carried out on working days (Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. onwards). This service cannot be cancelled and does not exempt the tenant from the obligation to clean the apartment regularly.

The latest possible move-out date is the final working day (Monday to Friday) of the month. The apartment must be vacated by 10:00 a.m. on that day.
