University of Ferrara (UNIFE) – Experience Italy, combining history and innovation

The University of Ferrara (UNIFE) was founded in 1391, making it one of the oldest universities in the world. Its most famous alumni include Nicolaus Copernicus and Paracelsus. Today, UNIFE is a vibrant, international university with over 28,000 students – situated in one of Italy’s most beautiful cities, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ferrara is a UNESCO World Heritage city and is renowned for its Renaissance architecture, green spaces and its open, student-friendly atmosphere. Compared to larger Italian cities, the cost of living in Ferrara is relatively moderate, whilst at the same time offering a vibrant student life.

Workshops & CoLabs

The University of Ferrara is actively involved in the COLOURS CoLab processes focusing on sustainable development, regional innovation and intercultural learning. Working in interdisciplinary teams, you will collaborate with students from across Europe on specific issues – ranging from sustainable urban and regional development concepts to innovative solutions for social and economic challenges.

Erasmus+ Exchange

Through the existing Erasmus+ agreements between Paderborn University and the University of Ferrara, you can study in Italy for one or two semesters. The University of Ferrara’s International Office will support you from your arrival right through to enrolment. In addition, local contact persons and student initiatives will assist you with all organisational and social matters.

Language courses & learning Italian

Don’t speak Italian yet? No problem. The university offers classes in English whilst also providing a wide range of language courses to help you learn Italian – a valuable skill for your studies, everyday life and the European job market.
