Whether it’s doubts about choosing a degree programme, challenges in day-to-day student life or unanswered questions about your future career: through the joint online series ‘Impulse im Studium’, the four state universities in East Westphalia-Lippe are helping students with their orientation and decision-making. To this end, Bielefeld University, Paderborn University, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (HSBI) and the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences are pooling their advisory and event services under the umbrella of Campus OWL. During the series of events in the coming winter semester, students will receive practical guidance through short talks and interactive workshops on stress and time management whilst studying, building personal resilience, decision-making and career guidance. Alternative educational pathways will also be presented.

This programme is on offer from 14 October 2026 to 27 January 2027 and is aimed at students who wish to continue their studies successfully as well as at those who are considering a change of direction. In addition to the events, students can make use of individual counselling sessions at the participating universities.

“Doubts about one’s studies can be an opportunity to take a fresh look at one’s own goals and aspirations,” says Uta Klare from the Central Student Advisory Service at Paderborn University. “With this series of events, we aim to encourage students to reflect on their study situation, address their questions openly, and learn about available support and various options for change, so that they can make well-informed decisions about their future path.”

The series of events forms part of the “Campus OWL – Opportunities for Students with Doubts about Their Studies or Those Considering Dropping Out” project. Since 2017, the four universities have been working together to provide early, cross-university support to students during challenging phases of their studies.

All events, dates and information on how to take part can be found on the project website.
