Paderborn University is ranked amongst the top 650 universities worldwide in the ‘Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027’. In an international comparison of 2,297 universities from 118 countries and territories, it is ranked in the 601–650 band.

For the ranking, THE assesses five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook and industry-related knowledge transfer. The assessment is based, amongst other things, on statistical data provided by the universities, academic publications and their citations, as well as an international survey of academics regarding the reputation of the universities. “We are delighted that Paderborn University’s achievements in research and teaching are being recognised in an international context. My sincere thanks go to our researchers and all staff who make this work possible and support it, so that it may gain even greater visibility in the future,” says University President Prof. Dr Matthias Bauer.

Paderborn University is characterised, amongst other things, by its collaborative and interdisziplinäre academic environment. Close ties with leading research organisations worldwide, as well as with numerous industry partners in the region and beyond, form an effective network. In particular, the areas of innovation and (industrial) knowledge transfer lay the foundations for future-oriented solutions and make knowledge in research and teaching accessible and practically applicable.

In the area of industry-related knowledge transfer, the university has achieved a particularly pleasing result in the latest THE ranking. Through joint projects with companies, students can also learn to apply academic findings to practical challenges. The university combines these practical links with a diverse range of courses on offer and comprehensive support services for students from Germany and around the world.

The detailed ranking results are available on THE’s website.
