To conclude the third year of research in the NEPTUN group, a special session was secluded at the 2025 International Congress on Ultrasonics (ICU), which took place in September in Paderborn. The session was comprised of six talks from different members of the group and included new theoretical and application related results. Carsten Spieker and Jonas Hölscher opened the session with their talks on simulation results titled “Modeling and simulation of the behavior of piezoceramics with the discontinuous Galerkin method” and “Multiscale thermo-piezoelectric simulations using the finite element method”. Raphael Kuess continued with some new insights into the optimisation process to determine piezoelectric material parameters in “Identification of temperature-dependent material parameter functions in piezoelectricity”. The forth talk, held by Olga Friesen and titled “Sensitivity Analysis and Material Parameter Estimation of a Pre-Stressed Langevin Transducer”, included results on the material parameters of complete power-ultrasound transducers. Similarly, Claus Scheidemann presented the results of long-term observations in “Investigation of the Setting Behaviour of Mechanically Biased Piezoelectric Ultrasonic Transducers”. The session, and incidentally the conference, was concluded by Leander Claes with an approach for dynamic nonlinear material parameter determination in “Estimation of third order elastic constants of piezoceramics using DC biased impedance measurements”.
