As part of the A:RT-D Grids project, employees from the KET Chairs LEA and EET visited the East African country of Kenya in August 2023. They exchanged ideas with local project partners and visited demonstration objects.
In the BMBF-funded project, a consortium of African and German universities is looking for solutions to the stability problem of electrical energy grids in East Africa. To this end, an innovative smart grid topology based on a cellular system of interconnected mini/microgrids is being developed, and a graduate school is being designed and set up to address issues of social, political and economic governance in addition to the general technical focus.
