Different players with specific interests and tasks operate on the energy market. All key players are represented in the FlexiEnergy funding project: Energy producers, distribution grid operators and energy suppliers. Each of the players has an important role to play in the overall system to ensure that the energy supply for private households, industry and all other institutions, such as the road infrastructure, functions smoothly. In order to identify the internal and external interfaces, structures and connections between the parties involved, three workshops were held with experts from the individual players. The workshops were moderated by project participants from UNITY AG, who used their methodology to systematically work out the complex structures of the energy market with the participants.
As a result, three value creation networks were visualised, which give each partner involved in the project a basic understanding of their own tasks and structures as well as those of the other market players. The merging of the networks shows the overall structures of the energy market. Based on these findings, any risks, opportunities and restrictions within the value creation network can be identified and potential courses of action for future reorganisation of the structures and relationships can be worked out. For future business models and service offerings in particular, it is essential to know which tasks are assigned to which instance and how these are influenced.
