Career as a scientist: "Out of the head, into the body" workshop

Ort: Zoom

The Central Equal Opportunities Officer of Paderborn University offers various workshops for female doctoral and post-doctoral students as part of the "Career as a Scientist" series. On 1 March and 12 April 2024, the workshop "Out of the head, into the body" will take place online via Zoom from 10 am to 3 pm. The seminar language is German. Those interested can register by emailing Stefanie Lichtenauer (stefanie.lichtenauer(at)upb(dot)de). All offers can be found on the website of the Equal Opportunities Officer.

Dr Pamela Geldmacher's workshop invites all participants to embark together on the path to greater resilience and strengthening of resources, instead of constantly running after the here and now. One focus of the joint workshop time will be on a sustainable pause culture within academic work phases. In a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected through digitalisation, "taking a break" must be relearned in order to be effective in the long term. Without high-quality breaks, one's own resources cannot be maintained in a balanced way in the long term.  But how do we manage to take breaks in our demanding everyday university life that strengthen us in the long term?

Answers to these and subsequent questions will be provided in this online workshop, which will be followed by a follow-up to reflect on and deepen the status quo. It is a practice-oriented format that implements tools from the areas of personal development, time and stress management and mental coaching as well as breathing, body and mindfulness exercises. The aim is to assess the current state of resources and to make self-determined adjustments in order to move forward in a more resilient, motivated and powerful way.
