Digital responsibility: How responsibly do we use digital technologies?
The "International Conference on Business Informatics" is the most important conference on business informatics research in the German-speaking world. It offers scientists, entrepreneurs and young professionals the opportunity to learn about and discuss the current state of research. This year, the "International Conference on Information Systems" (WI23) is hosted by the Department of Information Systems at Paderborn University. All interested parties are invited to attend the conference from Monday to Thursday, September 18 to 21, at Paderborn's Zukunftsmeile 2 and the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum (HNF), the world's largest computer museum. Paid registration is now available online. The conference is supported by the association "Die Wirtschaftsinformatik e.V.", the Scientific Commission for Information Systems (VHB), the AIS Chapter Germany (AISD) and the Department of Information Systems of the Gesellschaft für Informatik. Further information and registration options are available on the conference website.
Digital responsibility
The proliferation of digital technologies has improved our personal and professional lives in many ways. There are numerous opportunities to optimize housing and cities, as well as in healthcare, education, employment, entertainment, security, public participation, and transportation. However, the great impact of these technologies also brings great responsibility. This is also underlined by this year's WI23 keynote theme: "Digital Responsibility: social, ethical, ecological implications of Information Systems". Stakeholders from science, business and society are invited to discuss ethical and sustainability-oriented challenges as well as issues on a private, organizational and societal level at the conference.
As the home of numerous software and technology companies, with a long tradition in the field of information technology and Paderborn University as one of the largest business informatics locations in the German-speaking region, Paderborn proves to be a particularly suitable venue for the conference.
