Workshop: Hedwig Conrad-Martius. Phenomenology, ontology and metaphysics

Ort: Technologiepark/Zoom

The Center for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists at Paderborn University invites all interested parties to a workshop on Hedwig Conrad-Martius on Friday, 31 May, in the conference room of the Technology Park (Technologiepark 21, 33100 Paderborn). Starting at 2 p.m., the researchers will be focussing on the phenomenology, ontology and metaphysics of the German philosopher. It is possible to participate in the event digitally via Zoom. Both personal visitors and Zoom participants are asked to register for the workshop by e-mail: phenomenology(at)historyofwomenphilosophers(dot)org.

The occasion for the English-language workshop are two recent publications on Hedwig Conrad-Martius (1888-1966): the first English translation of her early work "Metaphysical Conversations", translated by Christina M. Gschwandtner, and the publication of the second revised and expanded edition of Ronny Miron's "Hedwig Conrad-Martius. The Phenomenological Gateway to Reality". Both the author and the translator will be present to discuss Conrad-Martius' ideas with the participants. The workshop will be opened by Prof. Dr Ruth Hagengruber and Dr Daniel Neumann from the Center for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists. Other speakers include Giovanna Caruso from the University of Greifwald, Irene Breuer from the University of Wuppertal and Simona Bertolini from the University of Parma, who is co-organising the event.

Further information on the programme can be found on the workshop website.
