Networking event offers lectures and lab tours at Paderborn University

Future from the printer: 3D printing is considered a promising technology and we already encounter it in everyday life. On Wednesday, 13 September, the OWL3D initiative invites all interested parties to the "OWL3D Live & In Colour" event to learn about applications from the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region and share experiences. Three years ago, OWL3D was launched by Additive Marking GmbH, the Conder Group, the Direct Manufacturing Research Center (DMRC), Krause DiMaTec GmbH and OWL Maschinenbau e. V. to stimulate professional exchange on this technology in the region and beyond. This year, the networking event will take place at Paderborn University. There, the DMRC has been researching the industrialisation of 3D printing for over ten years. The event starts at 12.30 pm in the L-building of the University. Participation is free of charge. Registration is requested. The complete programme and registration options are available on the event website.

Field reports and applications from the region

At the event, speakers from Böllhoff, Hella, Benteler, Deutsche Bahn, PalPrint and other companies will provide insights into various topics. Among other things, they will talk about how important 3D printing is for the railways, automobiles or packaging industry and what the sustainability situation is. In addition, the OWL3D initiative, together with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, will provide information about opportunities for training and further education. Interested companies will have the opportunity to find out about industrially relevant additive manufacturing processes and to network with the participants. In addition, laboratory tours offer exciting insights into practice.

3D printing from OWL

‘Additive manufacturing, i.e. 3D printing, as a still very young technology, thrives on exchange and networking in its community to explore practical uses and build broad acceptance’, emphasises Dr.-Ing. Christian-Friedrich Lindemann, Managing Director of the DMRC. ‘With its numerous small and large companies, OWL has a wealth of experience in this field. We want to make practical 3D printing expertise from SMEs for SMEs tangible and promote it in the region.’
