Further offers

Welcome to NRW!

A wide range of offers and information for refugees from Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia and the whole of Germany are collected and continuously updated on this page.

If you are not yet in Germany, but are currently or in future unable to complete your studies due to a personal threat situation, you can apply to be nominated for the Hilde Domin Programme.

Hilde Domin Program

The application deadline for a nomination via Paderborn University ends four weeks before the DAAD nomination deadline. The internal application deadline for the spring is therefore 15.02. for nominations by 15.03. of each year and 15.08. for nominations by 15.09. of each year.

If you are interested in applying, please read the programme's FAQ in advance. Please note that multiple nominations do not increase your chances of receiving a scholarship and refrain from applying if you have already been nominated by another German university in the actual nomination period. Please also note that, as a rule, your last school/university degree must not have been obtained more than two years ago.

If you would like to apply for a nomination, please proceed as follows:

University Entrance Qualification (HZB) Check: Before applying, you can use the DAAD admissions database to check whether you meet the minimum requirements for subject-specific or general admission in Germany.

1. Download, fill in and sign the application form. Please follow the instructions for the application.

For question 1 "Information on intended course of study", please select only courses from the study programs offered by Paderborn University. If you wish to study for a Master's degree, please note that the desired Master's degree program should be consecutive to your Bachelor's degree.

2. Add relevant certificates in the original language:

  • Secondary school leaving certificate with individual grades
  • University entrance examination, if passed
  • Overview of subjects and grades for all years of study (transcript)
  • Degree certificate, if completed
  • Language certificates or proof of proficiency in English or German (corresponding to level B2 or higher of the CEFR), which are usually not older than two years at the time of application

3. Add official translation of certificates. Exception: certificates whose original language is English or German.

4. Complete curriculum vitae in table form (max. 3 pages)

5. Letter explaining the personal risk/threat situation (1 to 2 pages). Please attach supporting documents, if available (newspaper articles, radio or TV reports, social media posts, etc.)

6. Motivational letter (1 to 2 pages) explaining your academic, professional and personal reasons for studying at a German university

Please send the documents in one PDF document to:
