If you already have some knowledge of German but have not yet completed a German course at Paderborn University, you must take a placement test before enrolling.

The test takes place online via KOMO: detailed instructions.

Placement test for the intensive courses (from September, 2026):

3rd August, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. until 8th September, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Placement test for the semester courses (from October, 2026):

14th September, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. until 6th October, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Note: If you have no knowledge of German, you do not need a placement test and can register directly for level A1.1.
