Please complete the questionnaire and send it by email (ilka.doenhoff@upb.de) before the first language learning advising session or bring it with you to the advising session. Contents include: Details of your course (if taken), languages learnt so far, goals and priorities as well as a self-assessment grid (current language level).

A learning journal is a helpful element in (autonomous/informal) language learning and serves to organise, document and reflect on your work. Here you will find a suggested structure (timing, content, learning goals and paths, progress & next steps):

The checklists contain descriptions of what you can typically do at each level - so-called "can do" descriptions. You can use them to assess yourself, have yourself assessed by others and get suggestions for specific learning goals .

The lists are sorted by skills, also contain university-specific information and are available in German and English:

You can go into even more detail about quality with various grids.

1. grid for assessing ORAL communication (including the criteria spectrum[vocabulary/speech], [grammatical] correctness, fluency, interaction [in dialogues] and coherence [structure])

2. the (almost) same grid, but supplemented by "Phonology" (e.g. pronunciation), in English

3. grid for assessing WRITTEN communication, English-language (including the criteria Range[vocabulary], Coherence [structure], [grammatical] Accuracy and text types) Description and Argument)
