Earmarked funds for gender equality measures in research training groups (Graduiertenkollegs)

Research Training Groups can apply for up to 15,000 euros per year in the context of an establishment or continuation proposal for gender equality measures. The DFG hopes that this possibility will motivate research consortia to strengthen their efforts in the area of gender equality.

These funds are to be used to increase the number of female researchers at the project management level, to qualify (in addition to their specialist qualifications) the young female researchers funded by the DFG in the research alliance for their scientific careers and to make the "science" workplace more family-friendly.

The gender equality measures intended with the additional funds must be outlined in the application. In addition, the application must include information on existing measures to achieve the stated objectives and explain how the funds requested by the DFG will be used to strengthen the DFG's own measures.

Further information and examples of how the funds will be used (currently only available in German).

In addition, the DFG supports the promotion of equal opportunities within Research Training Groups by funding special benefits and regulations for fellowship holders with children and by providing additional funds to support pregnant / nursing doctoral students and postdocs.

Dr. Armin Krawisch (Phone: +49 (0) 228 885 2424) is available at the DFG to answer questions on gender equality measures in the Research Training Groups and Graduate Schools programmes. Questions in this area will also be answered by the officers responsible for supervising your Research Training Group.
