As exchange students from partner universities or Master's students on English language degree programmes at Paderborn University, you can take part in the intensive course during the winter and summer semesters in order to improve your language skills for everyday university life and your daily routine.

Lessons

• Each course comprises 80 teaching units.
• You will be informed by your teachers about how the lessons will be organised.
• If you successfully complete the course, you will receive 5 ECTS credits. Your course instructors will inform you about the conditions for successful participation.

The intensive courses are offered at levels A1.1-B2.2.

Advanced language courses (B2.2-C1.2) are offered during the semester, please see section "German for specific purposes".

• If you already have some knowledge of German but have not yet completed a German course at Paderborn University, you must take a placement test before enrolling.
• The test takes place online via KOMO: detailed instructions.
• Please note the deadlines (see section "Dates" below).

Note: If you have no knowledge of German, you do not need a placement test and can register for A1.1 directly in PAUL.

• Registration does not guarantee you a place on a course. If there are more registrations than course places, the course places will be drawn by lot.
• You will see the results of your enrolment shortly before the course starts in PAUL via the "Status of my enrolment" function.
• If you have been allocated a place but do not wish to take part in the course, please unenrol from the course.
