Semester courses for German
As exchange students from partner universities or Master's students on English-language degree programmes at Paderborn University, you can take part in the semester course in the winter and summer semesters. Here you have the opportunity to expand your language skills for everyday university and private life.
Lessons
- Each course comprises 120 teaching units (UE).
- You will be informed by your teachers about how the lessons will be organised.
- If you successfully complete the course, you will receive 8 ECTS credits. Your teachers will inform you about the conditions for successful participation.
- If you already have some knowledge of German but have not yet completed a German course at Paderborn University, you must take a placement test before enrolling.
- The test takes place online via KOMO: detailed instructions
- Please note the deadlines (see dates below).
Note: If you have no knowledge of German, you do not need a placement test and can register for A1.1 directly in PAUL.
- Please register in PAUL under "Language courses ZfS incl. German": detailed instructions.
- Registration does not guarantee you a place on a course. If there are more registrations than course places, the course places will be drawn by lot.
- You will see the results of your enrolment shortly before the course starts in PAUL via the "Status of my enrolment" function.
- If you have been allocated a place but do not wish to take part in the course, please deregister from the course.

- If you do not get a place on a course and therefore have problems with your standard period of study, please contact your faculty.
