Current elections 2026
As part of the electronic elections from 17 to 24 June 2026, the status group of students will elect their representatives for the Senate and the faculty councils of the five faculties this year. The elections for the Student Parliament (StuPa) and the directly elected bodies of the student councils will also be held at the same time.

FAQ on the university elections
In the elections to the Senate and the faculty councils of the five faculties, the groups of:
- junior professors and professors
- Academic staff members
- Technical and administration staff
- Students
Elections are held annually for the student group and every two years for the other three member groups. The elections are subject to the Paderborn University election regulations in the version dated 25 May 2022. Further information on the tasks and composition of the Senate can be found here.
The full-time university staff (with the exception of the President and the Vice-President for Finances and Human Resources), enrolled doctoral candidates and enrolled students as specified in Section 9 (1) of the Hochschulgesetz (HG) are entitled to vote. Members of the university who are on leave from the university to work at a non-university research organisation may continue to participate in elections and votes. Authorisation to do so is granted by the Presidential Board on a case-by-case basis. The right to vote can only be exercised by those who are members of Paderborn University with voting rights on the thirty-eighth working day before the first day of voting and who have been included in the list of those entitled to vote in accordance with § 8.
In order to ensure authentication for authorisation to vote in accordance with Section 16 (1) of the Electoral Regulations, the technical requirement must be met that each person entitled to vote has a (ZIM)Uni account. In order to organise the electronic elections, each person entitled to vote must ensure that a (ZIM)Uni account has been set up and that emails sent to the address of the (ZIM)Uni account are read. If you do not know your (ZIM)Uni account, please contact zim@uni-paderborn.de.
After you have cast your votes, press the "Check ballot" button. You will now find a note on each of your ballot papers if your selection deviates from the voting rules. You now have the option of correcting your selection, cancelling your vote or casting a binding vote. Once you have cast your binding vote, it is no longer possible to correct it.
