Academic tariff employees at Paderborn University
Academic employees at universities are employees assigned to the faculties, academic institutions or operating units of Paderborn University who, in accordance with their employment relationship, are responsible for formative academic services in research and teaching, especially if they have a teaching obligation. If the research assistants are assigned to the area of responsibility of a professor, the professor is authorised to issue instructions. In addition to providing academic services, the tasks of academic staff may also include work in the administration of academic institutions or operating units, in the organisation of studies and examinations, in student advisory services and in other university tasks.
As an academic service, academic staff at universities have the task of imparting specialised knowledge and practical skills to students and instructing them in the application of academic methods, insofar as this is necessary to ensure the teaching programme.
In addition to the general requirements under employment law, employment is subject to the following conditions
- in the case of employment under a fixed-term employment contract under private law, a university degree in a degree programme with a general standard period of study of at least six semesters that meets the requirements of the official duties
- in the case of employment under private law for an indefinite term, a university degree in a degree programme with a standard period of study of at least six semesters that meets the requirements of the official duties and, if the employees do not work in operating units, a doctorate as a rule.
Academic employees are employed in accordance with Section 44 of the NRW Higher Education Act and the legal requirements (e.g. WissZeitVG) as well as the contract on good employment conditions for university staff.
Please note:
In the case of personnel measures for academic tariff employees, the contract term must be at least one year. It is not possible to change from the status of a research assistant (WiMi) to a research assistant (WHK)!
Applications for personnel measures must be submitted electronically at least 6 weeks before the planned measure by the respective field to be hired to the following e-mail address: Dez4_2@zv.uni-paderborn.de.
After receipt of the corresponding application, the procedure will be carried out by the Human Resources Department - Unit 4.2.
A position as an academic employee may only be taken up once a written employment contract has been concluded. The agreements required in this context are to be made exclusively with the Personnel Department - Unit 4.2 exclusively.
