Daniel Spieker and Tobias Steinrücke are pleased to receive the 2013 Germany Scholarships from the University Society

Daniel Spieker and Tobias Steinrücke are the names of the two students who will be among the scholarship holders of the Universitätsgesellschaft Paderborn from the winter semester 2013/2014. For the next two semesters, they will receive a Germany scholarship of € 300 per month.

The scholarships are awarded in cooperation with the Stiftung Studienfonds OWL. Half of the funding comes from membership fees of the University Society and the other half from the Stiftung Studienfonds OWL. Both received their certificates from Bernhard Dorenkamp, Chairman of the University Society of Paderborn, at the award ceremony on Wednesday, 6 November 2013 at the Heinz Nixdorf Forum.

Daniel Spieker and Tobias Steinrücke can study more carefree

Daniel Spieker is in his fifth bachelor's semester of economics. Before taking up his studies, he completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. Since the beginning of his studies, he has already been working as a student assistant at a management consultancy in Paderborn. Furthermore, the 24-year-old student imparts his specialised knowledge to other students as a coach and tutor in the field of statistics. Daniel Spieker would like to deepen his interest in economic contexts in a subsequent Master's degree.

Tobias Steinrücke is not only studying physics in the second Master's semester, but also mathematics in the teaching degree programme at Paderborn University. Even during his school years, he was particularly enthusiastic about the subjects of mathematics, physics and Latin. The 23-year-old is now continuing his three years of work as a student assistant at the Chair of Optoelectronics and Spectroscopy of Nanostructures with his Master's thesis. Tobias Steinrücke has already planned his next professional step: after completing his Master's degree, he would like to do a doctorate.

Both are very pleased about the award. The scholarship of € 3,600 each enables both of them to concentrate fully on their studies.

Universitätsgesellschaft Paderborn and Stiftung Studienfonds OWL for the OWL region

The Stiftung Studienfonds OWL (OWL Study Fund Foundation) is a cooperation project of the five universities of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in East Westphalia-Lippe that is unique in Germany. The aim of the foundation is to provide sustainable material and non-material support for students in East Westphalia-Lippe, to build up a network between sponsors and sponsored students and thus to strengthen OWL as a university and business location in the long term. The University Society is now in its second year of promoting these goals. The University Society has already awarded a total of seven scholarships to students in two years.

Thank you to the members of the University Society

A heartfelt thank you goes to all members of the UG who support these talented students through their commitment.
