Nach dem Abschluss der Promotion stehen Ihnen viele Karrierewege offen – aber es ist nicht immer einfach, den richtigen für sich zu finden. Das Jenny Aloni Centre for Early Career Researchers unterstützt Sie mit der Veranstaltungsreihe CAREER SPOTLIGHTS bei der Orientierung. In den Veranstaltungen lernen Sie Wissenschaftler*innen kennen, die bereits den nächsten Karriereschritt gegangen sind und von ihren Erfahrungen und ihrer Entscheidungsfindung berichten. Außerdem ist das CAREER SPOTLIGHT eine tolle Gelegenheit, sich mit anderen Promovierenden und Postdocs auszutauschen und zu vernetzen!

Unser nächster CAREER SPOTLIGHT findet am 16. Januar 2024 statt und wird den Karriereweg zur Nachwuchsgruppenleitung beleuchten.
Dr. Zahra Raissi, Nachwuchsgruppenleitung im Fachbereich Informatik, wird über ihren Weg zur Nachwuchsgruppenleitung in Deutschland aus einer internationalen Perspektive berichten. Im Anschluss gibt es ein informelles Get-Together, bei dem Sie die Möglichkeit haben, Fragen zu stellen und sich informell mit Ihren Kolleginnen und Kollegen auszutauschen.

Vergangene Career Spotlights
After the great success of our first CAREER SPOTLIGHT on Junior Professorships in November the Jenny Aloni Center for Early-Career Researchers invites you to set the spotlight on another topic. Meet Professor Miriam Strube (Department of English and American Studies) and Professor Jan Sperling (Department of Physics) talking about their research stays abroad and discussing the role of international connections for a successful career.
What to expect at the event:
- Prof. Dr. Johannes Blömer, Vice President for Research and Junior Academics, will share opening words.
- Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Miriam Strube and Prof. Dr. Jan Sperling will talk about their individual experience with research stays abroad and reflect on the role of international contacts for both the quality of research and the development of their own career.
- Finally, there will be the opportunity for open exchange with our guests and the other attendees at the University of Paderborn.

After completing your doctorate, there are many career paths open to you - but finding the right one is not that easy. The Jenny Aloni Center would like to support you in your career orientation with a new event series. At our CAREER SPOTLIGHTS you can meet scientists who have already taken the next career step and talk about their experiences and decision-making process.
What to expect at the event:
- Prof. Dr. Johannes Blömer, Vice President for Research and Junior Academics, will give an introduction to the current situation of young academics in Germany and present career paths after the doctorate.
- Afterwards, Jun.-Prof. Dr. Sebastian Peitz will report on his individual experiences and considerations on the way to a junior professorship.
- Finally, there will be the opportunity for discussion, exchange and getting to know other scientists at the University of Paderborn.
