How do I apply to study a supplementary subject on a teaching degree programme?

You may choose as a supplementary subject one of the subjects offered on your teaching degree programme. In the case of supplementary subjects on degree programmes for teacher training for vocational schools, you may choose one of the subjects offered on your degree programme in line with the permissible combinations set out in § 5, Para. 1 (1) of the Ordinance on Teacher Training (LZV) (i.e. with one vocational subject and one teaching subject, with two vocational subjects or with two teaching subjects).

If you wish to apply/register for a supplementary subject on a B.Ed./M.Ed. degree programme, you will need to do so on the online application portal. Supplementary subjects are labelled “Erweiterungsfach“ (supplementary subject) in the list of degree programmes/courses on the online application portal.

Please note the following when applying/registering for a supplementary subject on a B.Ed. degree programme: If you want to make your Bachelor degree subject your supplementary subject instead, you will need to submit two separate online applications: one application to change subject within your teacher training degree and one for the supplementary subject. You then follow the same procedure as for applications for Bachelor degree programmes with open admission

You can find further information on supplementary subjects on this page.
