Admissions without a German "Abitur" or subject-relevant university entrance qualification
(applies only to selected open-admission programmes)
Prospective students without a German “Abitur” or subject-relevant university entrance qualification may qualify for admission to a selected open-admission degree programme by demonstrating their subject-relevant aptitude as well as a general education that meets the requirements of the university through successful participation in examinations.
Confirmation of advanced technical college entrance qualification as a prerequisite for admission to aptitude tests
The prerequisite for admission to the tests for proving subject-relevant and general aptitude is an advanced technical college entrance qualification.
Applicants must request a document confirming that they hold an advanced technical college entrance qualification by submitting their advanced technical college entrance qualification certificate before their first aptitude test. The relevant form must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.
The Registrar’s Office will review the submitted documents and issue the corresponding confirmation letter:
• For submission to the Centre for Language Studies to take the general aptitude test
• For submission to the relevant examination board to take the subject-relevant aptitude test
Important information:
The respective document must be submitted to the Centre for Language Studies and relevant examination board before the first general or subject-relevant aptitude test.
Because it can take the Registrar’s Office up to two weeks to verify your qualification, we strongly recommend that you submit your request for this as early as possible. Where requests are submitted last minute, it cannot be guaranteed that the necessary document will be issued in time before the first aptitude test.
