A journal is a helpful tool for (autonomous / informal) language learning which supports the organisation, documentation, and reflexion of your work. Please find a suggestion for a structure (including time, content, learning goals and ways, progress, and next steps):

In these checklists, you’ll find descriptions of what people usually can do at their language level – so-called „can-do statements“. They help you in assessing your own level, in getting assessments from other people, or in getting inspiration for concrete learning goals.

The lists are sorted by skills and include university-specific content and are available in German and English.

You can go deeper into the quality of your production by using these grids.

1. Grid for the assessment of ORAL communication
(including criteria such as range [vocabulary], [grammatical] accuracy, fluency, interaction [in dialogues], and coherence [structure])

2. Almost the same grid, but expanded by „phonology“ (including pronunciation)

3. Grid for the assessment of WRITTEN communication
(including criteria such as range [vocabulary], coherence [structure], [grammatical] accuracy and the text types description and argument)
