Learners without any prior knowledge of the chosen language begin with course I. If you already have some prior knowledge of the language, you can be admitted to higher levels.
To find out which course suits you best, you may assess your language skills using the "self-assessment grid" (doc / pdf) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
There is a placement test for English, Spanish and French courses. A placement interview will be conducted for Polish and Russian courses. (see: Registration for language courses).
The course descriptions of the ZfS will tell you which level will be reached. The global scale (in German) offers a first impression of the 6 levels of the CEFR (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2).
Should you have any further questions, please contact the Managing Director of the ZfS Dr. Sigrid Behrent. You may write an email and / or make an appointment for consultation.
