Nacaps stands for National Academics Panel Study and is a longitudinal study of doctoral students and doctoral graduates in Germany funded by the BMBF. Since 2019, doctoral students and postdocs have been surveyed at regular intervals about their doctoral conditions, career plans and career paths, as well as their general living conditions.

In spring 2023, the University of Paderborn will participate in the National Academics Panel Study for the first time. This puts UPB among the 65+ universities participating in Germany's largest doctoral student survey to date.
