Research Interests: The focus of my research is on the microscopic theoretical description of the linear and nonlinear optical properties of nanostructured solid-state systems. I have a broad background in analyzing the coherent nonlinear optical response including many-body effects and in self-consistent computations of the light-matter interaction in systems that contain dielectric structures like photonic crystals and semiconductor nanostructures. Topics of particular importance are the coherent control of nonlinear optical properties, the spatio-temporal dynamics of optical excitations, and the ultrafast generation of photocurrents. In these areas I have authored and co-authored a textbook and more than 130 scientific publications which received more than 2700 citations (h-index: 27).
