Since April 2016, refugees without direct entrance qualification to German universities have the possibility to qualify at the Foundation College at the University of Paderborn for technical and scientific higher education programs. NEW: As of winter semester 2017/18, the Foundation College will also offer preparation course für studies in the field of economics or social sciences.
For refugees, participance is free of charge und funded by the project "Integra" (DAAD/BMBF).
- Good prospects of permanent residence in Germany (refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Eritrea, Somalia), proven by "Bescheinigung über die Meldung als Asylsuchender“ [Proof of registration as an asylum seeker] (BüMa) or „Aufenthaltsgestattung“ [preliminary residence permit] or residence permit
- Qualification to visit technical or science courses of a foundation college (see Anabin)
Applicants from Syria are usually qualified if they hold a scientific school-leaving certificate with an overall result between 60 und 69%, but no study times at a university
- German language skills on CEFR level B1
You can apply as of now. If you are interested, please contact the foundation college directly or visit our counselling office for refugees, who are interested in studying at Paderborn University. Office hours: Tuesday and Thursday from 14.30 – bis 16.00 h in room ME 0 226 (close to the Mensa, behind the AOK and TKK health insurance offices).
The foundation college for refugees is offered in cooperation with Bielefeld University, Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Hochschule OWL. If you are interested in studying at one of these institutions, you can contact International Offices of the respective institution directly.
