The key research area "Optoelectronics and Photonics" is focused on the physical foundations and applications of light-matter interaction. The approach is driven by new concepts from quantum optics, coherent optics, ultrafast optoelectronics, and solid state physics. The experimental and theoretical research activities include the development of new materials as well as the fabrication of functional nanostructures and photonic structures. The aim of our joint research is the exploration of fundamental aspects of nonlinear light-matter interaction in solids and the application of emerging new concepts in novel information- and quantum technologies.
