Refugee Scientists and Academics

The University of Paderborn supports refugees continuing their scientific careers in Germany. Currently, there are the following initiatives under which personnel costs can be requested:

  1. The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) facilitates the involvement in DFG-funded research projects for scientists and academics who have fled their home countries. For this purpose, project leaders may apply for additional funds to integrate those scientists in already funded DFG projects. Find additional information here: Refugee Scientists and Academics
  2. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation awards scholarships for a period of 24 months to researchers who are threatened by war and persecution in their own countries and are seeking sanctuary in Germany. Universities and other research institutions in Germany that are able to offer threatened researchers the opportunity for an extended research stay can apply for funding until 31. March. Find additional information here: Philipp Schwartz Initiative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation
  3. Project leaders may apply for additional funds to integrate refugee schlolars and scientists in projects already funded by the VolkswagenStiftung. Find additional information here: VolkswagenStiftung
